What is Aurora Smiles?

The Aurora Smiles team works collaboratively to improve access to oral health services in Aurora through dental screenings, outreach, and education. To celebrate National Children’s Oral Health Day in February 2017, Aurora Smiles convened organizations committed to providing oral health services to underserved and vulnerable kids. In collaboration with a variety of community partner hosts, we offered free dental screenings and fluoride varnish to over 100 kids in northwest Aurora, and provided their families with information about how to find an affordable dental care home in Aurora.

Currently, through a Delta Dental grant, Aurora Smiles is working on an outreach project encouraging Aurora dental providers to offer dental sealants for children.

Dental Home

Do you visit the same dentist for most or all of your dental needs? It’s important to find a dentist that you see on a regular basis. This is called a dental home. The dental home is the ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient, including all kinds of oral health care delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered way.
